Default G&W grows again in Georgia

Looks like the persistent rumors of NS leasing the former CofG line between Columbus, GA and Mahrt, AL are coming to pass:

http://www.stb.dot.gov/filings/all.n...c?OpenDocument

I couldn't get into the document at the moment to see the details on an expected closing date, but the operation will be called the Columbus & Chattahoochee RR. It will likely be a railroad in name only, as the Georgia Southwestern already operates into Columbus. Much like the Bay Line, Chattahoochee Bay, and Hilton & Albany, the lines between these operations will likely be tough to discern to the viewer.

There are also two ex Virginia Railway Express GP39s (rebuilds from ex CSX GP40s) headed to the Bay Line shop at Panama City, FL. Those are numbered BAYL 2318 and 2321. Unknown if more are to be acquired.

Was hoping Pioneer got this one like was rumored but oh well I guess it fits better with G&W operations. Maybe they will run the streetrunning in daylight now.
