Default Gallery: Super Moon

Okay... So I know a bunch of us went out this past weekend. Give us your super moon shots. I personally don't have mine on RP yet, but that should come in time. Most of the shots in this gallery will probably be from the night of MAY 05, 2012, but other super moon dates are
JAN 09, 2001,
FEB 08, 2001,
FEB 27, 2002,
MAR 28, 2002,
APR 16, 2003,
MAY 16, 2003,
JUN 03, 2004,
JUL 02, 2004,
JUL 21, 2005,
AUG 19, 2005,
SEP 07, 2006,
OCT 07, 2006,
SEP 26, 2007,
OCT 26, 2007,
NOV 24, 2007,
NOV 13, 2008,
DEC 12, 2008,
JAN 11, 2009,

FEB 28, 2010,
FEB 18, 2011,

For reference, a super moon is a moon that is in in it's closest 10% of its orbit and is full. Additionally, JUN 04, 2012 will also feature a supermoon.

You start a gallery without providing any pictures???? Pretty lame ...

At least find some other people's supermoon pictures and stick the best in. You don't need your own.

Ok, we are getting closer, now we have some images that were presumably shot on nights of super moons. Now, how about some more shots that show that moon? I'm not a night guy, but I presume that the point of super moon is to get an extra big moon into the frame (how noticeable is it, anyway?), not to have an extra-moonlit scene that one can now capture with a few fewer seconds of long exposure!

J, the nit-picker

Couldnt be bothered to go try taking pictures of trains with the moon, not like it looks any bigger unless you photoshop it in 4x the normal size.
250mm with alot of cropping.

I can tell you. My intention was not to really capture the "super" Moon but rather it being a full moon on a weekend where I could get out and get some nicely lit exposure shots. The wife was also gracious to let me out which was the bonus.

Apparently I need to figure out how to properly link a photo too.

Super Moon is nice for illuminating the night environment and even better for illuminating the clouds but the best opportunity afforded was to actually capture an object emphasizing the size of the moon relative to a subject within the frame.

John Benner (Last post, March 3rd 2011) took quite dramatic shots of the large rising moon in Albuquerque along with a naturally lit BNSF train - wish I could link the TO's image here.

Here are some MOON shots, album style:

Agreed, unfortunately I had to wait until the twins were in bed and everything was set for the evening so I didn't get out until after it had risen. It had been covered for the most part by clouds until later anyway.
