Once the site of the Ludlow-Asbury Station, this area along the out of service CNJ Main Line has turned into a quaint isolated mountain town with a only a few nearby residences. This photo was taken from the platform of the Ludlow-Asbury Station, looking east towards Jersey City Terminal (sixty miles from this location). The main line was reduced to a single track during the later CNJ years due to declining passenger traffic west of Raritan. Back in the good old days, westbound CNJ passenger service continued as far as Bethlehem and Allentown, Pennsylvania. For photos of this line farther east, view photo 217206 and photo 213940.
