Crews of the CLNA work to re-rail a covered hopper at the Southern States elevator with a few wooden blocks and a lot of patience. The car was not secured properly by the customer and ran over a derail. The smoke plume on the other end of the cut of hoppers is from CLNA 815 easing forward ever so carefully to coax the hopper back on the rails. On this particular Thursday, the little town of Farmville saw quite an interesting time on the CLNA. At 1100, the work train arrived from Wilson, and after dropping their train in a siding, the crew ran the 815 light over to Southern States to wait for 120 – the road train – to pass. Soon the hopper was back on the rails, and the crew picked up where they left off dumping rock with the work train by 1330.
