A brisk ride through the woods of Maine. Hauling every passenger-carrying conveyance the museum owns, WW&F #10 heads north toward Alna Center during the annual Victorian Christmas event. Yes, that is indeed an open excursion car behind the caboose and no, the WW&F had no trouble finding hardy Mainers willing to ride in it, despite temperatures in the 20s. By noontime, the line to ride the train was so long, that the crew elected to add every piece of rolling stock that could safely carry passengers to the excursion trains. The crew told me that the previous day's record for ridership at the museum occurred during last year's Christmas event. That number was 475 people. When I left the railroad at the end of this day, the Museum President informed me that the ridership count for today's event was 911, nearly doubling the previous record. More and more folks are apparently discovering this little gem in the woods of Maine!
