Richard Beal photo:
WOOOOOSH! From Richard: My dad and I rode this fan trip from Wash DC to Harrisburg via the electrified freight only line via Three Mile Island. From there we turned East toward Philly. Passengers detrained at Lancaster for a photo runby. The train backed up about a mile and came roaring back. When I saw the speed, I set my shutter speed at 1/1000 and took the shot. We continued to Philly, went up on the “highline” over the yards and came down on the New York – DC line going South. We detrained again at the Wilmington locomotive shop and were given the run of the place, after signing releases. On the way back at 90mph, we were passed by and Southbound “Clocker” doing about 100mph. |
