Remarks & Notes |
Soo 501A heads west with the once a week trip to/from St. Ignace. At the time the job worked down on Wednesday evening/night and loaded the Chief. After that the crew took rest and the Chief would depart on Thursday morning for the trip across the Straits of Mackinac to Mackinaw City. In the afternoon upon the return of the car-ferry the Soo crew would come on duty and unload the Chief and then proceed west to Trout Lake where the train would fill out and after that it would be off to Marquette working quite a few stops along the way. A single F was rare on this job and no doubt caused the crew some grief as it required them to use the turntable at St. Ignace that obviously saw limited use. Oh and if you happen to be driving along highway M-123 north of Moran, you can still see this bridge, but you will not see a train on it as it is now an ORV trail. |
