Despite the relatively short period of electric operations on Conrail, some E-33 and E-44 (and one GG1) were repainted blue. Here, blue E-33 4605 leads black E-33 4607 on an eastbound piggyback train at Waverly 5 tower in Newark, NJ. During early Conrail, this location was very busy with freight activity, but Conrail soon shifted operations away from the Northeast Corridor and Waverly 5 tower, the adjacent freight yard, and the electrics were gone.
