A view of the PRR servicing tracks at East Altoona shows a variety of power in this 1955 view. John had written permission from a high-up in the mighty PRR to freely roam East Altoona and take photos, a place not known as accessable to railfans. Somewhere in his collection of memorabilia is that letter, one of these days it will itself be pulled from storage and photographed. On the left a track gang works while on the far right is #2012, a B-L-H RF16 (BF 16). In the center BLW BF15 #9583 and partners also wait for work. All are the subjects of one of 16 photos taken that day and now uploaded to GodfatherRails.com>
A collection of engines, cabooses, cars, etc., great and small that are past their prime, but represent a spirit of railroading that will never pass away!!
