Point of Rocks, MD 3/9/2012 - Seen from high atop the nearby Catoctin ridgeline, CSX E-727 brings a string of 130 empty hoppers by the historic B&O depot at Point of Rocks. The train is on the Metropolitan Subdivision from Washington, D.C., and the tracks to the left are the Old Main Line Subdivision to Baltimore. In the far background, a wye track can be seen that is used by MARC commuter trains that leave the Metropolitan Subdivision to head towards Frederick, MD on the Old Main Line. The depot and surrounding yard area is used today by CSX track maintenance crews; MARC passengers still board at the platform shelters. The station itself is not open to the public.
