UP's St. John Local climbs westward along the Oquirrh Mountains with six cars for industries at Erda and Warner. The UP 3626, an EMD SD40-2, was built new for the Union Pacific in Nov. 1979. It is dressed in 'Operation Red Block' livery, one of only three UP diesel locomotives to wear the special paint scheme. After serving on the UP for nearly 30 years, the venerable 'Dash Two' was retired from service on Feb. 17, 2009.
