A stacker rolls west behind a pair of GE's on a fall morning on the north east side of Johnstown. In the foreground is the joint NS - Conemaugh and Black Lick Cambria Yard, which was host to a string of stored tank cars on this morning. This was once a major interchange point for traffic in and out of the mills of Johnstown. At the bottom right is a portion of the former Bethlehem Steel car shops. Responsible for building thousands of hoppers, flatcars and gondolas over the years, the car shops and most of the mills in this area are gone. Still intact though is NS's Woodvale Yard where a cut of hoppers sit, East Conemaugh Boro, tucked into the mountains at top right, and finally the Maple Ave. bridge at center. Completed in 1959, the bridge was built with tracks for streetcars of the Johnstown Traction Co. which saw service just over a year before streetcar service ended in June of 1960.
