Three Adirondack Scenic locomotives show off the road's New York Central heritage at Thendara (Old Forge), New York. No. 8223 is the most historically accurate locomotive on the line, as RS-3s were almost exclusively used on the Adirondack Division through the New York Central and early Penn Central years here. The northern portion of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad is in potential jeopardy; a highly-motivated and well-funded group of citizens wants the state-owned line torn up and turned into a bicycle and snowmobile trail.
