Though they could be found in the US in the early 2000's, the Noyes sub wasn't capable of such large locomotives until the mid 2000's. By then, these beasts were deemed unsuitable for US operations because of differing emissions standards. Due to a power shortage, 4 have since been retrofitted to be US capable. Though extremely rare, they have returned.
