L&N Railroad Cumberland Valley Division northbound train 44 from Lynch to Corbin sails around the curve at Ponza, KY, at the north end of the yard at Page. The bridge crosses Yellow Creek, while the Cumberland River is to the left of the trees. The track veering off from the southward main in the distance is the south leg of the wye leading to the Yellow Creek Branch to Amru. In later years, this branch would generate a lot of unit train tonnage for utilities in the South. The motive power is "Big Emma" 1986, one of 42 well-regarded 2-8-4s that were the last steam locomotives acquired by the L&N. The 1986 herself was constructed by Lima-Hamilton in 1949. At the time, the CV was double track from Corbin to Harlan Junction--un-signalled and set up for directional running (right hand normally) under timetable and train order operating authority.
