In 2010, I was assigned as project manager to get the dome car wrapped for its fall foliage tour on the Adirondack and Cardinal. The wrap from previous years didn't cover the full side of the car, and I made sure that wasn't the case this year.
This wrap was either loved or hated, with critics saying the leaves looked like fire from a distance (I had nothing to do with the art). Either way, it drew attention to the train and gave it some color. This was the last year the dome was wrapped for the fall season, and the car now bears the Phase III scheme.
The Adirondack follows both the Hudson and the Lake Champlain shoreline on its leisurely trip between New York and Montreal. When it started, it was pulled by beautiful ALCO PAs purchased by Delaware & Hudson second-hand from the Santa Fe.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
