Livingston Ave Bridge (LAB), last manned interlocking tower in NYS. Opened in 1902 by the New York Central, LAB was the northern of the two Albany Hudson River bridges. Prior to the closure of Albany Union Station and Penn Central's move to a Rensselaer station, this was also known as the freight bridge. Here is the swing portion of the Livingston Ave Bridge. On top of the bridge is the tower that the operator (24 hours) sits in, controlling the operation of the swing bridge and the interlockings from CP-141 to CP-145. In this scene the SB Adirondack from Montreal is crossing LAB with the Great Dome Ocean View in tow. The dome is on its annual Fall foliage assignment with the Adirondack from Rensselaer to Montreal and return.
