Merry Christmas from Maine! With the sun sinking rapidly toward the horizon, WW&F #10 shines in the golden light as she moves toward the Sheepscot Platform to pick up yet another passenger train for Alna Center.
The Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum's annual "Victorian Christmas" event was held again this year on Saturday, the 20th of December. From 11AM until about 4PM, the museum provided free train rides to and from Alna Center, visits with Santa Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides, as well as games for the kids and plenty of hot beverages and snacks. Unlike the previous year, when freezing rain threatened the area, the weather this year was just about perfect. It was sunny all day, with a high of about 30F. With good weather, and lots of advance publicity, the museum expected a crowd and it got one! By the end of the day, nearly 1,300 people had ridden the two-footers, breaking the old record from 2012 by nearly 100 riders. Needless to say, it was a great time for all of the patrons who attended, and another great opportunity to showcase the excellent preservation work that is going on up in Alna, Maine.
