With pressure from legislators to produce cleaner energy, coal has started to see its end in some places, one of which: Lansing, MI. A victim of this is the Otto E. Eckert Station. Operated by the Lansing Board Of Water & Light, the plant which has been in operation since 1923, is scheduled to be decommissioned by 2025 in favor of the newer natural gas plant that is currently in operation already. However, on the other side of the tracks, growth is taking place with the expansion of the Lansing Grand River assembly plant which produces the Cadillac CTS & ATS, and will soon be producing the Chevrolet Camaro, which is the reason for the expansion. Despite all of this change, one thing remains constant: a steady flow of CN trains rolling right through the heart of it all. CN A451 takes the honors for the moment as they roll west with a long train of racks and mixed freight.
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
