The passing of this train brought with it the end of an era for Sonoma County railroading, as this was the last train to cross the original Haystack swing bridge. Built by the San Francisco and North Pacific in 1902, the bridge has served an impressive 113 years of carrying trains over the Petaluma River. Seen here, BUGX 1322 and NWP 2009 crawl across the bridge headed back to Napa Junction. The newer replacement bridge in the background is now complete and serving both NWP and SMART trains, while the swing bridge is completely gone.
Photographs where trains and people mix, weather it's street running, plant switching or carrying a unit grain train out of an elevator, it will be put here.
