Drifting down to Cumberland. A fleeting snow flurry temporarily dims the winter sunlight as Western Maryland Consolidation #734 drifts downhill over the old Cumberland & Pennsylvania Bridge 1453, with a short freight bound for Cumberland. Bridge 1453, sometimes referred to C&P Bridge #2, is a 67 ft. long, steel girder bridge spanning the former right of way of the old Western Maryland Railway and located just a mile or so east of Frostburg. The double-track mainline that used to run under this bridge was removed in the late 1980s and is now a popular hiking trail.
