A single GP40-2 leads a short westbound freight by the row homes along Scull Street. In 1980, when this photo was taken, track speed was 25 mph and trains sounded their bell only; it was a "semi-quiet zone." Today, track speed is 40 mph and trains sound their horns at all crossings. One of the homes pictured is currently for sale at $38,900. Gannon Street crossing (between the 1st and 2nd flatcars) is closed, and the old Railroad House bar/restaurant on the right is closed. The last Reading RR passenger train (The Queen of the Valley) stopped at the station in the right background in June, 1963.
