X-Milwaukee Road GP9, STMA 103 tiptoes its train across Benewah Lake trestle on the former Milwaukee Road mainline as it heads west from St. Maries to Plummer, ID to interchange cars with the Union Pacific local from Spokane. Due to mechanical issues with a couple other Geeps, the St. Maries River Railroad has lately been making this run five days a week rather than tri-weekly. The 103 no doubt made many trips over this bridge on Milwaukee's hotshots the XL Special and the Thunderhawk back in the early 1960s. This was part of the non-electrified portion of Milwaukee's transcontinental mainline to Seattle/Tacoma, WA.
