Paraphrasing the familiar mid-‘70’s Coca-Cola advertising slogan from the billboard in the photo, one of the ways that the drab monotony of the ex-PC power that dominated early Conrail was broken was with leased power. Predominantly CNW, CN and BAR, foreign road units added a splash of color to CR motive power consists. Although the lack of cab signal equipment prevented the leased units from leading in ex-PRR territory, the off-line units occasionally lead in other territory, as seen here coming eastbound with 111 cars under the Hamilton Street bridge in Allentown.
