CNW made a lot of improvements in the 1970s and 80s, but were pretty frugal when it came to yard trackage. Here at Altoona this view shows a transition track to a scale, which obviously has seen better days, but was still in use. GP7 1628 and a "Baldwin half-breed" switcher look on in the background. The rebuilt Baldwins replaced Alco S2s in yard swtching in Altoona in the early 70s.
