The south end of the Iowa Northern the past 30 years has been somewhat a night time operation. You will find odd ball stuff running or late trains year in and year out. As was the case in January 1994, here the South Crew is passing the ex-Rock Island Depot in La Porte City. Back then ex-BN GP9's were the main power, and then there was a few odd ball things like this ex-Santa Fe CF7 trailing. Also in true shortline fashion, the job is running backwards on the way to Cedar Rapids.
