Rock Island F9M 4162 was born in 1948 as a Union Pacific F3A unit. UP rebuilt this and some other F3s into F9Ms in the late 1950s and eventually sold some to Rock Island. The 4162 is shown a little worse for wear on a gloomy March 1973 day at their Inver Grove, MN yard which served the Twin Cities of St. Paul/Minneapolis. The unit is still in UP paint, with only a nose herald identifying its new owner.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
