Located 20-miles north of Walsenburg, Colorado is the location of Lascar. Between Walsenburg and Pueblo, the Spanish Peaks Subdivision is double tracked and track warrant controlled with BNSF and UP paralleling each other. Seen here, a northbound vehicle train led by BNSF SD70ACe No. 8592 races north on BNSF trackage at Lascar on May 17, 2017. The Spanish Peaks looming at 12,000 and 13,000-feet are seen in the background. The Ute Indians named these mountains Huajatolla, meaning "Two breasts" or "The Breasts of the Earth".
