PRR 4-6-2 K4s No. 1361 from the rear as seen at the Altoona Railroader's Memorial Museum. This is the infamous Belpair firebox which most would agree brought the 14 year restoration (1996-2010) to a grinding halt. The issue in question which was discovered very late in the failed restoration to operation had to do with new FRA regulations, sheet thickness and bolt spacing on the roof sheet. Interestingly, the side sheets were replaced at Steamtown but a new roof sheet would presumably need to be designed, engineered and built to allow No. 1361 to operate at pressures the locomotive was designed for. Rumors abound in regards to a renewed effort to restore No. 1361 to operation, bur for now, they seem to be just rumors.
