These two SD40-2's were leading A84 when they struck an 18 wheeler attempting to beat them at a road crossing. We as railfans and photographers hate to see all the high hoods and standard cabs going away but this crew was on the other engine pictured, NS 3241 and it had previously been upgraded to an Admiral Cab. The 3241 rolled over on the conductors side and both the crew members were able to walk away from this accident with a story to tell.... Change is inevitable in this world, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse but if these new Admiral Cabs are a safer alternative and allow crews to walk away from accidents such as this, I'm all for them!
