Tucked away in a corner of the Idaho Panhandle is the St Maries River Railroad. The caretaker of a small portion of the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad’s pacific extension. After running light engine to Plummer ID and waiting around for the UP local to show, the train is heading back to St Maries to refill those empties with product from the PotlatchDeltic mill. The former Milwaukee GP9's have outlasted their original owner and served the St Maries for more years than the Milwaukee. The +-2800’ bridge has been bit by bit rebuilt since the Milwaukee abandoned it. Most significantly the +-400 feet in the background collapsed a few years ago and was rebuilt on steel pilings.
