New Power for Local Shortline
Mass Coastal/Cape Cod Central Railroads have recently acquired two ex-New Haven FL9s from Connecticut DOT. After a long journey from New Haven, Connecticut, the railroad finally has them in their own hands. As cranberries are being harvested in the bog, Mass Coastal 2008 brings the new units southbound with two construction and demolition cars. The freight cars with fortunately be dropped of in Rochester, and the FL9s will continue south onto Cape Cod and to Hyannis, where they will be restored to operation. They will be used on Cape Cod Central tourist trains. The last time FL9s were on Cape Cod was over two decades ago, and before that when New Haven was still in existence.
