An empty DDG train bound for Tara, IA, has slowed down for the 10 mph permanent speed restriction thru Galena. Here the train passes Grant Park named after Ulysses S. Grant, who arrived in Galena in 1860, about a year before he would play a big part in the Civil War. The Galena area has a few things dedicated to Mr. Grant who was a resident off and on from 1860 thru 1880. In about 4 miles the train will hope on the BNSF Aurora Sub at Portage for the 13 mile trip over to Dubuque and back to CN rails in Iowa.
