“Blue Debut” Debuting Maryland Midland Railway’s dark blue and orange paint scheme for its passenger equipment, MMID 812 and 794 are on the point of a Blue Mountain Limited excursion, just after departing Union Bridge for Highfield on 11/07/1987.
After Norfolk & Western retired NW 812, 794, and 793 in May 1985, the GP9s found a home on the Maryland Midland Railway in August 1985. With a nod to the heritage of the line’s primary trackage, MMID rebranded the units with WM-inspired “speed lettering”. The three would ultimately receive low short hoods, MMID’s attractive blue and orange livery, and renumbering to MMID 202 (812), 201 (794), and 200 (793) in 1992-93.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
