Remarks & Notes |
The time is 5:41PM and Amtrak #6 is on time for a 6:30PM arrival in Denver. This location is the oft photographed Big Ten curve, so named for its degree of curvature. This trackage is in the transition from the Great Plains to the Rocky Mountains and was conceived and laid out by the veteran locating engineer H.A. Sumner at the beginning of the 20th century. Before long that shadow at the bottom of the image will have the entire curve in darkness. |
