Assembling an all SR&RL passenger train. Trainmen Dan Malkowski (foreground) and J.B. Smith (background) are about to complete the assembly of a passenger train that has not appeared in public since 1924, when Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Railroad Locomotive #6 was sold to the Kennebec Central. Here, SR&RL #6 (aka WW&F #9) prepares to pin on to an all Sandy River passenger consist, including Combine #14, Franklin & Megantic Coach 21, and the Parlor Car "Rangeley". The latter is the last remaining parlor car from any Maine 2-Foot railroad. On the first day of our Maine 2-Foot Grand Reunion, the consist you see here made numerous run-bys for the assembled photographers under a clear, blue Maine sky, with lots of fresh snow on the ground and in the trees. If it looks a bit chilly in this photo, it certainly was. The temperature this day never rose about 15F.
