Amtrak’s eastbound California Zephyr snakes through the “s curve” at milepost 60 between Fraser and Winter Park, Colorado, on the afternoon of January 11, 2019. On the rear of the train is private car Gulf, Mobile & Ohio No. 50. The car is now lettered “The Patrón Tequila Express” and was built by Pullman in 1927 as GM&N, later GM&O, business car No. 50.
Two Amtrak routes serve the Centennial State. The California Zephyr's route through Moffat Tunnel and along the Colorado River goes from one end of the state to the other. The Southwest Chief cuts across the southeast corner.
