Marking a sad occasion. Pictured overhead, on May 8, 1974, a fire caused substantial damage to the Poughkeepsie Railroad Bridge, severing freight service across the Maybrook Line and forcing all rail freight crossing the Hudson far to the north, and more likely to the roads. On October 1, 2016, Webb Rail LLC - WEBX's former New York Central Railroad "Babbling Brook" (obs/diner/sleeper) held the markers on a private varnish special of seven cars, which would make a round trip to Grand Central Terminal before making another round trip to Chicago, IL. This bridge is today the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park.
