Re 420 # 294 of the SBB got this special paint scheme in november 2018, to celebrate "100 years Swiss National Circus KNIE" (Knie is the family name of this traditional circus dynasty). The timeless motif with the clown balancing the big letters KNIE (Knie means knee in german) on his knee was created by the Swiss artist Herbert Leuppin in 1956 and has since become the most famous symbol of the Swiss National Circus. In the anniversary year 2019, the circus KNIE had the best season ever, but this year, with the Corona crisis, the circus is forced to remain inactive at its home base in Rapperswil until further notice and will probably not be able to start the tour until September. Re 420 # 294 is pulling the freight train 63180 from St.Margrethen via Romanshorn VL-Frauenfeld to the Limmatttal shunting yard, between Winterthur and Kemptthal. Behind the locomotive is towed the small diesel shunter Tmf 232 # 314 of SBB infrastructure.
