No one was happy, when a freshly shopped SP 7308 was added to the front end of the 4449 Daylight for its trip over Tehachapi. There were a lot of angry railfan's that day. But looking at the picture today there is so much history in it. The 4449 lives on, but who know if it will ever get to Southern California again. The ugly diesel that ruined our shot. Not sure if it's got the scrapers torch yet, probably. The Southern Pacific is gone, The Santa Fe is gone. The red and yellow paint scheme gone, SF30C now scraped. It all changes so fast. Yet the steamer is still going.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
