A GE AC4400CW shoving this westbound Union Pacific coal train bound for California is only a few miles into its run up Soldier Summit on the former Denver and Rio Grande Western mainline which, despite the aforementioned railroad having been out of existence for 31 years and counting, still bears some markings of its original owners, such as this girder bridge next to US 191 at Castle Gate. Other relics of the DRGW still standing include numerous "No Trespassing" signs still adorned with their name, as well as the telegraph wires still strung along the tracks seen here. The old ROW visible in the background belonged to the Castle Gate Tramway, one of many abandoned railroad relics in the region.
