A relatively unusual Big Boy public passenger excursion departs New Orleans. Running along the Mississippi River levee, approaching the upriver (west) end of city’s ‘front belt’, the train stopped near the turnout toward the plant where the Sewerage & Water Board renders the river’s water drinkable. When it restarted and soon split the signals, the cylinder cocks were still open, putting on quite a show for all who came out on a very hot Sunday morning to see it off.
