On Sunday, September 3, 2021, Trains Magazine hosted a charter at Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad featuring Rio Grande Southern (RGS) 20 powering a mixed train. In an effort to experience sunrise at Ferguson's Trestle, our train departed Antonito, Colorado around 05:45. Upon our arrival at Ferguson's Trestle, Colorado, passengers disembarked and waited for sunrise. As the sun rose, several runpasts were staged. Here, RGS 20 is depicted at 05:53 crossing the trestle, approaching milepost 286.
After the passengers disembarked, as the sun rose, several photo runpasts were staged for the benefit of photographers.

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
