Rio Grande Southern Power: RGS #455. With Cumbres & Toltec Fireman Austin Goodwin handling the spout, RGS K-27 Locomotive #455 (D&RGW #463 re-lettered as 455) takes on water prior to a 2021 freight charter for Trains Magazine.
For much of its existence, the Rio Grande Southern was controlled by the Denver & Rio Grande, and later the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Not surprisingly, it's power roster consisted mostly of hand-me-down or leased engines from the D&RGW. C-class Consolidations and K-27 Mudhens dominated that roster, and nearly a dozen locomotives which ran on the RGS at some point in time, including the 463 pictured here, still exist, either on tourist railroads or in museums.
