Home at Last. Four years after Stadler was awarded a contract to build three Diesel Multiple Units for San Bernardino County's Redlands Passenger Rail Project, the first DMU was delivered to California on November 29. Here it is seen in the consist of BNSF's Kaiser Hauler from Barstow to Kaiser Yard in Fontana, CA. The DMU was shipped on flatcars from Stadler's facility in Salt Lake City in three pieces - two end/cab cars and a power-pack containing the diesel engine. The set will be put together after delivery and begin testing in advance of revenue service anticipated to begin in 2022. The new route will be operated by Metrolink and run from the current terminus of Metrolink's San Bernardino Line, San Bernardino-Downtown, 10 miles eastward to the city of Redlands.
