Bridging The Divide. If you were to label this photo as either Gainesville, TX or Thackerville, OK, you would not be worng either way. Amtrak Train 821 (Heartland Flyer) was crossing the Red River on December 29, 2020 with Webb Rail's former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built Pullman dome 313 (WEBX 801044) and former Northern Pacific Railway Budd built dome/coach 549 (WEBX 801045) at the trailing end of the consist with AMTK 52 (P42DC) holding the markers. These cars were the first private cars to make the Fort Worth, Texas to Oklahoma City, Oklahom trip in many years, seen here returning to FTW.
The Lone Star State is big on route mileage but small on passenger service with only three routes for the second biggest state by size and population. Offerings include the Sunset Limited, Texas Eagle and Heartland Flyer.
