The Santa Fe built into Marceline around 1887. The name Marceline came at the request of a director of the new railway whose wife had the Spanish name of “Marcelina.” This depot was built in 1913, and served as the Missouri Division offices, and for crews until 1989 when the crew change point was abolished. An inspection train bound for Murry Yard in KC, passes by the restored depot that is now a Museum for Walt Disney. The town has built up the area around the city park in honor of Walt Disney and the railroad. The cement track in the background is the MA 3.0, "Christened" the Midget Autopia ride. Walt Disney had the ride built in 1957 and used it in Disneyland until 1966. The ride was moved to Marceline for display til 1977, and now just a track remains as a tribute. The boys made a few hot laps around it for a good time!
