The Time Has Come. On Wednesday, June 1, 2022, New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that more that $300 million will be invested in the revitalization of Buffalo's East Side, including $61 million towards he restoration of Buffalo Central Terminal. Since closing to passengers in 1979, this building has had a difficulty finding a path to survival. After being the victim of some poor decisions seemingly intended to cause its destruction in the mid-1980s, the local community has rallied to create a basis to fund its restoration. Recent installation of new windows and solar panels on the roof has brought significant improvement in the physical structure. Webb Rail's former New York Central Railroad Budd built Pullman obs/diner/sleeper "Babbling Brook" (WEBX 800007) has been passing by or stopping at BCT since being built in 1949, first on the NYC's "New England States" and later in private ownership. On Monday, August 30, 2021, the Brook was holding the markers on Amtrak Train 64 (Maple Leaf) on the way to New York's Penn Station from Niagara Falls as passengers observed the impressive structure, still holding on until a day like June 1 would arrive.
