Norfolk Southern's Operation Awareness & and Response (OAR) safety train rolls past the former Purina tower in Marshall, Virginia eastbound on the NS B-Line. Today, the train is heading to Alexandria, Virginia but not before tying down in Manassas.
I've been really lucky to catch all the daylight runs over the past few years where NS 5642 leads on the B-Line.
The OAR train tours the Norfolk Southern Railway's system to train local first responder departments about responding to railroad-related emergencies. According to the Norfolk Southern website: Operation Awareness & Response (OAR), was launched in 2015 to educate the public about the economic importance of the safe movement of hazardous materials by rail and to connect emergency first responders in Norfolk Southern communities with information and training resources.
