It’s the early morning hours, and NS I9A (ex:215) (Chicago,IL-Atlanta,GA) has enter into the Chattanooga Terminal after the long run south from Danville, KY. UP Nº 1983 Western Pacific Commemorative Unit is making rare appearance in the Tennessee Valley. Days prior to the run on I9A, Nº 1983 was making a run assigned to lead NS 27K which caught a lot of local railfans off guard. UP Nº 1983 is one of my personal favorite units from the UP, and I can tell you that the last time that this unit made an appearance in the area was back in the winter of 2013 when it led CSX Q133 to Jacksonville, FL.
Railroading is a 24 hour a day business, that never sleep. From sunset to sunrise the railroad must run. These image are taken by some of the best rail photographer out their.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
Best shots and/or classic scenes on the of the Norfolk Southern CNO&TP South-End from Danville, KY to Chattanooga, TN. Also includes classic scenes from the former 2nd & 3rd District.
